Friends From All Around

Phew. This was an extremely busy (and probably fat laden) weekend. But it was fun, catching up with old friends from all around.

CI came back from the States recently and we finally met up. She wanted to play with Russy and K so she came over on Saturday morning. Had yummy ice cream at Ice Cream Gallery to counter the blazing mid day heat. Here's a photo of K and CI:

Met J & D at Mimolette for lunch. They came back from HK for J & W's wedding. Whilst waiting for them to arrive, lo and behold, bumped into L, he who is the reason why my basketball jersey (which I am coincidentally now wearing to sleep). He just finished lunch and was hanging around in the al fresco area. Small world. Anyway, lunch was good, Mimolette was thankfully relatively quiet and K, as usual, charmed the waiters and some patrons. We had a great time . Pity we couldn't hang out with J more cos J & W's wedding at Sentosa was scheduled to start at 5pm.

'Cos Mimolette is located at the Saddle Club off Bukit Timah, Lil K saw her first big horsey! Lil' K in her bright orange Aussie-inspired hat:

Went to check out the latest property launch, Breeze at East Coast, to be located at where SC used to stay. The place was nice (but then again, aren't all showflats nice?) but it was way way too expensive for the area, I thought.

...

Slept in on Sunday. Good thing we have trained Lil K to do the same. Nice lazy Sunday mornings are always best! Met J & C & E for lunch at Parkway and to do grocery shopping. Needed to stock up on Lil K's food for the week. Checked out My Gym and signed K up for the Tiny Tykes class, hopefully that would help her motor skills a little. We start next week. Can't wait!

We're giving Herbie up for adoption tomorrow. Its been a good 3.5 years with Herbie. He's never given us any problems and has always been an ever-reliable boy. Hopefully when Herbie becomes mature tomorrow (and becomes Henrietta? Ha. G hates that name and insists it'll still be Big Herbie), it'll be as reliable and trusty. Can you spot Snowy, the guardian of our car?

Decided to brush off the layers of dust on my piano (I have not really played for the last what... 15 years at least? Not counting those times that I tinkered on it just for fun...) and try to impress Lil K with my sub-standard piano skills. Bones have all hardened and fingers are definitely creaky. Managed to bang out a couple of tunes. Tried to bluff my way through sight reading. Lil' K wanted a piece of the action too!

S came over after his run in the evening. He's my bestest male friend ever! He'll soon be flying off to Oslo and Geneva for a super duper shiok fake-work-and-mostly-play overseas posting in less than 2 weeks time. Haven't seen him in ages cos he's been flying around for work like crazy, always disappearing into black holes, I always say. We've always been hanging out loads since we first met in the same OG during orientation camp in Raffles Hall way back in 1997. I hope things still remain the same after he gets back at the end of this year... by then Lil K should be able to totter around like a drunken sailor. We'll leave Uncle S to totter after her and chase her then.

Oh, of course, we had to celebrate Lil K turning 7 months. Cake is a Maple Walnut Cheese Cake from SSC. Yums.

Since we are losing Herbie tomorrow, we decided to bring Russy out to East Coast for a walk. Its been at least 7 months since he's enjoyed a car ride and the air con that comes with it. Poor Russy boy. He enjoyed himself today though he went slightly hysterical when we first arrived at East Coast and we were backing in to park the car. As always, he tried to terrorise the cats along the way. We ate at The 360, the restaurant at Ski 360 at East Coast lagoon. That was the rest stop during our Saturday night Husky Walks (now defunct). The restaurant looks like it underwent a change of management. The food now sucks big time. It was beyond not-that-great, the food was AWFUL. How can anyone get pasta wrong? Geez. Even I can cook better pasta! The presentation looked promising, but it just tasted real bad. Here's a photo of Russy waiting for us while we tried our darnest best to stomach the food.

Dejected & Forlorn

He was the centre of our universe for quite a long time. At least 2 whole years, to be precise. He had our undivided love and attention, and has been spoilt rotten by everyone.

Suddenly, he realises that his position as the King of the Household is threatened. People don't spend as much time outdoors playing with him and bringing him out for long walks at East Coast Park anymore. People don't seem to be hugging him and fussing over him as much. And most of all, Mummy can't pat or play with him as much anymore... All 'cos of the newest member to the troop... little sista Kaelyn.

And he hasn't even been introduced to little sista to play with yet. All 'cos he's got too much fur and the adults are afraid little sista would be too young and sensitive to meet him.

All he's got left is his best friend, Mr Industrial Fan. At least he won't leave him.

Go Directly To Jail, Do Not Pass Go, Do Not Collect $200

The Rascal knows the rules. No pee-pee in the front garden, otherwise it's punishment time.

We let him to the front after we got back at around 5pm. We reminded him again. No pee-pee, otherwise back to the back garden. He made his usual sprint to the front, displacing unfortunate pebbles in his path. He reached the front gate within seconds. Up came the right leg and ppppppppppssssssssssssssttttttttttttttttttttttt came a stream of yellow pee-pee all over the once-white front pillar.

"Who asked you to pee-pee? Who asked you to pee-pee? You jolly well know that you are not supposed to pee-pee here!", the G bellowed.

As soon as G took off his black shirt, Rascal was airlifted off the ground and banished to the back garden, only to have the heavy metal gate slammed into his face.

Go Directly To Jail, Do Not Pass Go, Do Not Collect $200

It was a breezy evening so G and I sat at the new mosaic garden table set to catch up on the news, with the Rascal looking pitifully at us 10 feet away, whining and howling the house down, trying to gain some sympathy.

"Nope, no way little furry guy. You know the rules and you've got to be punished."

After what seemed like a reasonable time for him to reflect on his wrongdoings and repent, we let him out again, but not before giving him a severe warning. This time, he SEEMED obedient, just happily trotting about the garden, minding his own business, not peeing on any of the plants at the side.

After I was done with the newpapers, I took a stroll to the front to check out the plants, and lo and behold, I had a very guilty dog at my feet, cowering down as I walk. This was a sure sign that he had done something very naughty that he knew he shouldn't have. I scouted around the garden for the smelly giveaway. Ah-Ha! I see remnants of a stream of yellow pee on the SAME pillar! He had the cheek! psssfffttt.

"Who did that? Who pee-peed again at the same spot?"

The crouched-low-on-the-ground-with-head-tucked-under guilty pooch got a harder wacking this time around before being banished yet again, having his freedom to roam the front garden disappearing before his own very sad-puppy-dog-eyes.

Go Directly To Jail, Do Not Pass Go, Do Not Collect $200... Again.

No sympathy for the recalcitrant repeat offender this time round.

Mr Grumbly

Don't let his dashing good looks fool you. He's no man/pooch of few words. We don't call him Mr Grumbly for nothing. He takes after his old man, G.

Mr Grumbly grumbles and complains at the slightest of things, and this has worsened lately.

He grumbles in the morning when he's not fed in time, when he doesn't have his best-friend (Mr Industrial Fan) on, when we leave the house without taking him along, when we come home and he doesn't get enough hugs or attention from us, when it's too hot, when he's been bored the whole day... and the list goes on.

Not sure why his incessant grumbling has increased recently. Could he be jealous of Ger-Ger and her impending arrival? Or is he just longing for our affection?

Latest Fashion

Mr Grumbly just went for his bi-weekly grooming session on Tuesday. To our surprise, he came back at 12 noon instead of 7pm. We were even more surprised when we saw him. This time round, and for the first time ever, he came back with more than just a nice smell after the usual wash and blow treatment. The groomers actually trimmed his ultra bushy tail and his tail now looks like a fox's, cut blunt at the tip. His underbelly fur was also neatly trimmed (but this time he he was spared a Boyzillian). We're still trying to get used to his new neat look.

One and One Makes Four...

Our family is expanding... rapidly. Our son just turned two last week and our daughter is coming along in 2+ months' time. Our little boy is no longer a baby boy but is now a teenager with raging hormones. Here are some photos of him as a young babe:

Our adorable babe has grown up into a handsome heartbreaker.

Once and for all... the answer is...
